No Super Typhoon!
Typhoon Parma did not hit Metro Manila! No further devastation is a cause for celebration!
We are still packing more relief packages of rations. The people's lives are forever changed. You can see more details on the official blog of ICPE Philippines, please see http://icpephilippines.blogspot.com
Here are some photos that a colleague of mine took with her mobile phone. These photos were taken on 4 Oct 2009 near the
City Hall (Carucho Avenue) on her way to work, near her home. The 'river' was once a dry road. And now people are still walking in waist/knee deep water.
The Filipino people are also very ingenius and opportunists. See how some have made a livelihood out of the need to stay dry! Using whatever they could find to make 'floats'/'boats'. They charge anything between P50-90(around S$2 -3) for this short stretch of road (500m), which is equal to a day's transport and food! But needs have probably forced them to think of ideas to make ends meet!
All photos taken by Chon Israel.
