Judging the Pineapple by its smell
There's a trick to eating pineapples. The thorny exterior has to be cut away to reveal its yellow juicy insides. It requires some skillful handling of the knife.
There was a plate of cut pineapple at lunch. I was told it doesn't smell as good as it should be. Frankly, I wouldnt know the difference since i only like this sweet fruit (cooked) on Hawaiian pizzas. There were doubtful faces around the table, and i would be the last person to volunteer tasting it.
One brave soul took a bite and announced it is SWEET! Much to everybody's surprise.
Moral of the story: If the goodness of something is in doubt, very few would venture into uncharted territory to proof otherwise. I read it somewhere that labels stick. It'd be such a shame if we applied it to people. People need people to have hope and trust in them. Read it somewhere else that we cannot change people no matter how painful it is, we can only hope and continue to pray that WE will change, to love them as they are.

Oh Theresa,
What a beautiful analogy.
I wish you were around when people were looking for negatives in me.
Again you leave me with a smile of hope.
smiles,
Liz
